1LT. Merton J. Friberg was a Navigator with the 12th Air Force; 310th Bombardment Group; 428th Bombardment Squadron; and was stationed in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, (MTO).

His Hometown was Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York.

He flew 59 Combat Missions from 02 December 1943 to 04 October 1944. He was Awarded the Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters.

After the War, he became a Chemical engineer for the Defense Supply Depot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died 04 Mar 1987 in Camden County, New Jersey. His burial place is unknown.

MERTON J. FRIBERG, 69, of Turnersville, a retired chemical engineer for the defense supply depot in Philadelphia, died Wednesday at Kennedy Memorial Hospitals/Stratford Division.

Mr. Friberg served as a first lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II.

Survivors: his wife, Virginia; a son, Thomas C. of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Karen Feldman of Lindenwold and Marilyn of Sewell; three grandchildren, and a brother, Marshal of Jamestown, N.Y.

Services: viewing, 7 to 9 p.m. today, Egizi Funeral Home, 200 Ganttown Rd., Turnersville; funeral, 10 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
