Settle Lyons Death Case For $4,000

CANANDAIGUA - Mrs. Rosanna Leddick, Lyons, accepted a $4,000 settlement in her Supreme Court negligence suit her against Mrs. Margaret B. Dey, also of Lyons.

Mrs. Leddick's son, Francis, an Air Force man, was killed when struck by a pickup truck operated by Mrs. Dey. He had been home on leave only five hours.

Culmination of this suit by settlement cleared the way for a similar negligence action, which involves a pedestrian-car accident.

This is the case of Anthony J. Maio, Geneva, vs. Charles Lanasa and Rolland D. McClure, both of Geneva. Maio claims he was struck down by cars operated by both defendants.

Justice William G. Easton, Rochester, is presiding at this term of court.

$4,000 Settles Suit in Canandaigua

CANANDAIGUA -- A Lyons woman whose 19-year -old son was killed in an accident two years ago accepted a $4,000 settlement in her negligence case in Supreme Court at Canandaigua yesterday.

Culmination of this suit made way for the beginning of a similar trial involving Genevans. Both cases concerned pestrian-car accidents.

Mrs. Rosanna Leddick settled her suit against Mrs. Margaret B. Dey of Lyons. Mrs. Leddick sought recovery for the death of Francis L. Leddick on Aug. 1, 1959. The son, an Air Force serviceman who arrived home on leave just five hours before he died, was killed when struck by a pickup truck driven by Mrs. Dey. The accident occurred at 10:45 p.m. and the defense alleged lights of an oncoming car obscured her view. Charles Carrol of Rochester represented Mrs. Leddick. Richard Connors of Rochester was defense attorney for Mrs. Day [sic].

A jury of six men and six women was selected just prior to the evening adjournment to hear the case of Anthony J. Maio of Geneva against Charles Lanasa and Rolland D. McClure, both of Geneva. Maio is seeking compensation for multiple injuries received in February, 1960, when he alleged he was struck down by cars driven by the two defendants. Maio was crossing Exchange Street in Geneva at the time.

Justice William G. Easton of Rochester is presiding at the current court term in Ontario County.
