orn on June 15, 1756 in St. Charles, Province of Maryland to Isaac Lemasters (1728-1797) and Nancy Anne Scott (1730-?). He had 7 brothers and sisters: Thomas, Catherine, Joseph, Charity, Mary, Isaac, and Richard Lemasters. In 1779 Benjamin married Rebecca Ann Martin in Virginia. Benjamin Lemasters was recuited into the 1st Virginia Regiment by a Lt Culp and took the oath on 1 October 1776. He enlisted for a three month period and joined a company commanded by William S Lewis of Staunton, Virginia. He served at: White Plains, Trenton, Princeton, Morristown (promoted to Sgt and re-enlisted), Brandywine Creek, Germantown, Fort Mifflin, Valley Forge, Monmouth Court House, Camp Robinson, Bound Brook, and Sandy Hook. Benjamin Lemasters' last muster was recorded on 7 May 1779. Pension was granted in Nicholas County VA/WV in 1833, Cert # 16923. Benjamin died on December 16, 1837 and is buried at LeMasters Cemetery in Gilboa, Nicholas, West Virginia.
