2Lt. U.S. Army Air Corps, World War II-2Lt. Boyd was killed in action while serving as a Co-Pilot on a B-17G with the 603rd Bomber Squadron of the 398th Bomber Group, 8th Air Force out of England over Germany.

2lt Boyd was the Co-Pilot on a B-17G {42-107186} piloted by 1Lt John S. MacArthur hit by flak, exploded & crashed in the North Sea from returning from bombing the V-2 Rocket-Launching site at Peenemunde, Germany on August 4, 1944.

2Lt. Boyd is the son of Mr. Moses B. & Mrs. Sue R. Boyd of Lewistown, Illinois, and is a 1941 graduate of Lewistown H.S., and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana, Illinois for one year, and enlisted in the Air Corps at Urbana on May 18, 1942.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Air Medal, Pilot Wings, American Campaign Medal, European Campaign Medal with Two Battle Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal.
