erved briefly as a Drummer with the 1st South Carolina Infantry. When his father Pvt. William McLee "Mack" Cole, who was serving with Company B, 3d South Carolina Volunteer Infantry, passed away from Pneumonia following the Battle of Fredericksburg, T.J. was released from service.
