Jack Davis

1920-2006

Mr. Jack Edward Davis, 85, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and formerly of LaPorte, died June 8, 2006, in Sierra Vista.

He was born Dec. 23, 1920, in LaPorte to Edward and Orphia Davis. He and his wife moved to Sierra Vista in 1964.

Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 21 years. He also retired from civil service at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. At the beginning of World War II, he was captured off Wake Island on his 21st birthday and was held as a POW until the end of the war three years later. He was honored in 2004 as the Veterans Day Parade grand marshal. He was loved, respected and will be missed by his family and friends.

In 1953, he married Mildred P. "Millie" Davis.

Also surviving are one daughter, Donna of Phoenix; and two grandsons, Robby and Jayson.

A graveside service was held June 15 at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Sierra Vista. Desert Rose Crematory and Burial, Tucson, Ariz., was in charge of arrangements.
