I know he was in San Diego at Camp Pendelton, but he trained in other places that specifically trained people in operations of the B-24 Bombers.

Ed was lucky that by the time he went to the pacific - the war was over. So he never got shot at. His unit maintained surveillance of the Japanese as they demilitarized and went back home. Still they had to be on their toes for an spontaneous reprisals from the Japanese. And there were also rogue units that either wanted to continue the war, and in some cases didn't know the war was over.

I remember some of the stories. One of his favorites was that two Marines standing back to back in a bar room brawl could hold off a bar full of guys in a fight, it they had their belts off and swinging. The secret weapon was the belt buckle with the Marine emblem - it was heavy and sharp and could tear up the other guy.
