On July 22, 2021, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) identified the remains of Electrician's Mate First Class Harvey Christopher Herber, missing from World War II.

Electrician's Mate First Class Herber entered the U.S. Navy from Washington. He was serving aboard the USS Oklahoma (BB-37) on December 7, 1941, when the ship came under attack from Japanese forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Oklahoma was struck by torpedoes and capsized in the attack, and EM1c Herber was among those killed in the incident. His remains were eventually recovered from the ship; however, they could not be identified at the time, and were buried as unknown remains at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2015, the DPAA received authorization to reexamine unknown remains associated with the Oklahoma using advances in forensic technology. EM1c Herber's remains were exhumed and accessioned into the DPAA laboratory as part of this effort, and were successfully identified.

Electrician's Mate First Class Herber is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
