Earl Joseph Bohnenkamp was born 11 Feb. 1921 at Alexandria, SD.

Earl died June 9, 1973, in an accident on a construction site in Alhambra, CA. He was a civic and business leader in the Los Angeles area. His obituary and funeral notice headlined the front page of the Star Review newspaper in Los Angeles on June 14, 1973. He was President of the Highland Park Breakfast Optimist Club, an officer in many professional organizations, a member of the Japanese-American Citizen League, and one of the planners for the proposed Veterans Memorial in Highland Park.

Earl served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

In 1945 he moved to the Los Angeles area where he created the Earl J. Bohnenkamp Concrete Pumping Service. He had recently formed a partnership for use of the magna-flow unit for concrete pumping.

In 1949, Earl married Bessie Alberta "Al" Bensend of Carthage, SD, with whom he had one son, Mark Bensend Bohnenkamp. Alberta died in 1959.

On April 17, 1960, at Tlaquiltenago, State of Morelos, Mexico, Earl married Miriam Virginia Clingerman Seaman, of Youngstown, OH, with whom he had one daughter Terri Anne Bohnenkamp.

Funeral services were held at St. Ignatius Church, Los Angeles, with a memorial mass also held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria, SD.
