Capt. James Harvey Mathes

athes was a Confederate soldier and journalist. He was in many of the bloodiest engagements of the West, finally losing a leg on July 22, 1864, which ended his active military career. In 1902 he published a life of General Forrest. From: http://www.picturehistory.com/product/id/4679#
