orn 24 Aug 1826 in Franklin, Tennessee; Died 9 Feb 1901 in Washington, DC. Son of Judge Thomas Maney and Ann Rebecca Southall Maney. Married Elizabeth "Betty" T. Crutcher in Jun 1853 at Davidson Co., Tennessee. Graduated from the University of Nashville in 1845. Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Mexican-American War; Lawyer; was elected to the Tennessee State Legislature; General in the Confederate States Army; president of the Tennessee and Pacific Railroad; elected to the Tennessee state senate; U.S. ambassador to Columbia, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay. Buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee.
