About dmossfritch
I began collecting family history in 1965. Research was in-person or by a hired representative during those early years, with all correspondence via the US postal system. In 1986 I began transferring my paper research to computer software, first using CPM+ based genealogy software, then DOS, and much later into Windows based software. At one time or another I have looked at or actively used all current and many genealogy software programs no longer available. During the 1990s I contributed a 'tree' to the World Family Tree project's CD1. I was a major contributor to "Huyck in America", a book about the Huyck (and various spellings) families from the late 1600s. I also wrote a short booklet ("Fritch Canadian Lineage") that is on-file at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick. I have also contributed information describing the families of John and George Fritch to the United Empire Loyalist Association's on-line 'Loyalists Directory'. My background is investigation and research. I spent 20 years in the US Army, retiring in 1983 as a senior investigator for counterintelligence (Humint) spending most of my career stationed in Germany. Following the Army, I worked in the technical end of the computer software industry as a professional author in Silicon Valley (lead technical writer describing database schema, API, report writing tools, etc), retiring the second time in late 2009.
