Michael J. Lenz, age 51, died Sept. 22, 1999, in Alexandria, LA.

Mike was born 5 May 1948, the son of Dick and Lucille Lenz and a native of Gettysburg, SD. He graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1966.

He enlisted in the Army on 30 Apr 1970 and was discharged on 29 Sep 1977. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a heavy mobile equipment engineer - Sgt. - US Army -- Vietnam.

He had resided in Leesville, LA, since 1974.

He and his first wife Mary had one daughter, Michele.

He married Phyllis Jean Schlomer on 27 Dec. 1976.

He was currently employed as a Civil Service Material Handler at TASC at Fort Polk, LA.

He was a member of Cooper Baptist Church in Pickering, LA.

He is survived by his wife of Leesville, LA; daughter Michele (Lenz) Pickrel of Clark, SD; two sons: Scott Cooke of Ayer, MA, and Kendrick P. Cooke of Leesville; three more daughters - Angela K. Yancey of Austin, TX, Paula J. Warburton of Sunrise, FL, and Sherri Cooke of Hinesville, GA; and one sister Colleen Lenz Holstrom of Brookings, SD.
