Dorothy Soule, 86, of Gettysburg died Monday, February 17, 2003, at the Gettysburg Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2003, at the Christ Church Episcopal in Gettysburg with Fr. David Schmidt officiating, with Military Honors. Burial Friday in the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis under the direction of Luce Funeral Home - Gettysburg. Prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Temple with Eastern Star Rites.

Dorothy L. Kezar was born on July 21, 1916, at Mellette, S.D. to George Burton and Elvina (George) Kezar. She grew up at Mellette and graduated in 1934 from the Mellette High School. She then attended Aberdeen Business School for 1 year. She then began working for the Telephone Company in Doland, later transferring to Redfield.

In 1943 she enlisted in the US Army and served until 1945. She married Frederick Soule on May 25, 1945 at Junction City, Kansas. They moved to Whitlock Crossing along the Missouri River (west of Gettysburg) and later became the Postmaster for a few years. She later became a homemaker. They moved into Gettysburg in 1959. Dorothy was a member of the Episcopal Church and was a Lay Reader and worked in Pastoral Care, Past Matron of the Eastern Star, Past Noble Grand of the Rebecca Lodge, NARFE, Gettysburg Country Club, and Auxiliary of the Shrine and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband: Frederick Soule of Gettysburg, 3 daughters: Elizabeth (Wesley) Agar of Omaha Nebraska, Margaret (Dan) Bouzek of Reno Nevada, and Dorothy (Alex) Sundberg of Stayton, Oregon. She has 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 1 brother: George Kezar of California. Preceding her in death was her parents, 4 sisters: Bea, Edna, Viva, Geraldine, 3 brothers: Charles, Dale, and Elwin. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.
